I love to find discrepancies in books, my favorite book to look in is the bible. Why, because there are so many different versions and translations of the bible, something is bound to get messed up somewhere and there is sure to be some crazy story to follow....
My favorite discrepancy is the story of Lilith. You know who I am talking about right? The first woman. Wait, what? You think Eve was the first woman? Well then, you better read the first 2 chapters of the bible again. Look closely, in the first chapter of Genesis you will notice that it is said that man and woman was created at the same time and they will rule over everything that moves. Now read through chapter 2..... It says man was created out of the earth, then a bunch of stuff about Adam ruling over animals, then he is placed in the garden, then woman was created to serve man. Um? ok? But the last chapter said they were created at the same time and given the same orders, they were equal, right? I'm confused. (You know the other question I have about this part of the bible, in chapter 2, God only tells Adam not to eat the fruit, Eve wasn't created yet, so really how did she know how forbidden it really was? God screwed up and now all woman are punished? Really?
Back to Lilith. For some Lilith symbolizes feminism, being
created at the same time as man and to rule the same as man, some
believe Adam wouldn't stand for this and wanted to rule over everything,
including woman, so he tossed her aside and God created him a woman
that he could rule over. Lilith never got over this, to put it nicely, it ticked her off and she turned into a
demon, or so the mythical story goes.
So was there a woman before Eve? and was her name Lilith? Well, some people look to large churches for the answer. So let me draw your attention to the Notre Dame Cathedral, At the entrance there is a carving of Adam and Eve, and between them is a female serpent, maybe Lilith? Ok you want more, Michelangelo painted her in his picture of Adam and Eve, maybe possibly the one who tempted them to eat the apple? Want something more trustworthy? Lets go back to the bible. Isaiah 34: 13-15 mentions Lilith by name. "14, Wildcats will meet hyenas, the goat demon will call to his friends, and there Lilitht will lurk and find her resting place." This part of the bible talks about a dark place where demons will live. Yes, demons are in the bible!
Oh well, this is all in fun. I'm not saying that in the first 2 chapters of the bible that there was a secret first divorce, but it is fun to look though these things and read the stories and myths from other cultures in the world that go with them and just see how everything is connected, for me this connection is just one more thing to prove to others that God is real, the bible is real. Lilith may be real or just a fun mythological woman that is fun to research and read about, that is for each of you to decide on your own.

Modesty
I normally do not preach or push my beliefs on anyone, but every day that I go to the high school to pick up my daughter, even the middle school to pick up my other daughter, then there was the "skinny jeans" in a size 2T at walmart the other day, the padded bra from the gap for 6 year olds.... What is society and fashion designers turning our little girls into?
I believe in Modest dress, I do not believe that you have to be completely covered from head to toe, but the teens walking around the schools, and not just high school wearing what looks like less than a 1/2 yard of fabric glued to their body, pushing every dress code limit they can, what are they saying? What are they thinking? And what are they teaching the boys in that school? how many broken hearts could have been prevented if the guy was not lured in by his uncontrollable lust? What about teen pregnancies? Diseases? Just cover up a bit more, you can look beautiful without showing all that, in fact I have talked to several men who actually think it much more attractive when a girl leaves some hidden for the imagination. Ever hear the saying "curiosity killed the cat", well leave a guy curious and he will follow you.
What about the divorce rate? If more women would look at the way they dress, I truly believe, in my own opinion, that relationships would be based more on whats important and a deep loving friendship.
I am not saying dress modestly because the bible says so. Not at all. I am saying out of respect for the men around us, every man you pass on the street, dress more modest for them. There is a princeton study that gives some insight on how a mans brain reacts to seeing a woman scantly clothed or in a bikini. I mean, seriously girls, part of a mans brain shuts down when they see too much of your body....... I will wait for you to think about the power of that....... and giggle a little....... done?.... Now seriously think about it. It is the part of the brain that is "associated with analyzing a persons thoughts, intentions, and feelings". Hello, they basically loose all rational control of their brain, which controls what they do, and then you will blame them? Not right girls (and now that you read this and are aware of this it is even more not right).
To make my point clearer, here is a great video I think all women should watch.
OK, I'm done with my venting. And I hope at least one girl, young or old, got something from this.
