Jumping For Joy

A few weeks ago our homeschooling lead us down the path of studying rocks. And when you study rocks you somehow end up doing the dreaded sugar crystal experiment (as I now call it). So we followed the "recipe" precisely and waited.....

And waited......

And waited......

And, guess what, we waited some more..........

And this whole time the kids assumed *Mommy* did something wrong and day after day I was asked "why?".......

Finally while cooking dinner I decided it was time to dump our "no show sugar crystals". So I pull them out from the back of the counter and look down into them (as opposed to through the side as we have been looking) and there floating on top, looking right back at me was a wee little sugar crystal. I left dinner to burn and gathered the kids to carefully pulled the string out and fished the sugar crystal out with a spoon. It was our only crystal in all 3 jars, and the older girls are a little jealous of their little brothers ability to grow sugar crystals, but we are all very excited.

It is now sitting on our counter waiting for further observation under a microscope.

We did it, we grew a sugar crystal!
